Vestry Minutes 

February 21, 2026

 

Attendees: Fr David Wilcox, Steve Hirtzel, Paul Patrick, Kim Gerhardt, Karen Hauswald, Gabriel Sparks, Linda Wallace, Chris Butler

The meeting was called to order at 1:32 PM by Fr David after the retreat had concluded.

Previous Minutes: The minutes from the December and January Vestry Meetings were approved with one correction to spelling.

Rector’s Report: Fr David has been meeting with several visitors and inquirers, with several expressing interest in joining. He and Cyndi attended a stewardship seminar put forward by the diocese. The parish was host to the diocese’s deacon retreat, which was a success. He is continuing to meet with the Deanery and Diocesan Council. He is working on updating documentation, including job descriptions for parish staff. The Average Sunday Attendance for 2025 increased to 50, and it was 53 for 26 so far. We gained a total of 12 new members, which nets an increase of 8 new parishioners. We will be planning a Newcomers’ Gathering in a new format.

Senior Warden’s Report: Youth group is averaging 5 and they are looking at several curricula for formation with the youth group, focusing on topics they’re interested in. They are also going to be doing a service project making necessity bags. We will be moving forward with the Martin City St Patrick’s Day Parade on March 15th.

Finance Report: The January Financials were shared before the meeting, Cyndi shared the following information through Fr. David. We currently have $2,700 in the Pay of the Principal account. January’s revenue was lower than normal due to in-person service cancellation on January 25th. 

Building and Grounds: The new mower has been purchased. New security measures are in place for the grounds. Utilities have increased. They are inspecting for leaks and investigating other sources.

Old Business (Addendum): Between meetings, a Certificate of Deposit reached maturity date. The Vestry voted electronically to follow the Finance Committee’s recommendation. The balance was split into 2 new CDs, one for 6 months  and one for 12 months, with interest rates at approximately 3.5%.

New Business:

  • The Vestry approved the Parochial Report. Highlights include that we have 84 members with 20 non-member participants.
  • They also authorized the auto-debits for the year for cleaning and other pre-approved expenses. 
  • They agreed to consider commissioning a mass setting.
  • There was discussion of an inquiry about the possibility of selling a small parcel of land. 
  • Committee Appointments:
    • Finance Committee – in addition to the members required by the bylaws Regina Berens, Penny Krupp, and Dave Pierson were appointed.
    • Stewardship Committee – Cyndi Troyer, Penny Krupp, Steve Hirtzel, Sarah Hirtzel
    • Welcome Committee – Cyndi Troyer, Karen Hauswald, Donna Parker
    • Bylaw Revision Committee – Chris Butler , Gabriel Sparks, Fr. David Wilcox
  • Outreach Events:
    • St. Patrick’s Day Parade (3/15) 
    • Belton Fall Festival (Date TBD) 
    • Pirate Dash (4/17) 
    • 5k in May (5/2)

The meeting was adjourned at 2:40 PM with the next meeting scheduled for March 8.
