Vestry Meeting Minutes
June 29, 2025
Attendees: Steve Hirtzel, Cyndi Troyer, Fr. David Wilcox, Paul Patrick, Penny Krupp, Regina Berens, Kim Gerhardt, Susan Petrakos, and Jane Brucker
The meeting was called to order at noon with an opening prayer by Steve Hirtzel.
Approval of previous month’s meeting minutes: The minutes of the May 14th Vestry meeting were approved.
Priest Report: Fr. David submitted his thorough Priest report. One item on Outreach, he reached out to Bing S. concerning a program Good Dads. His goal was to offer SMM as a venue; however, Bing explained that it would be SMM duty to find attendees. It was agreed that we do not know men who would meet the criteria. Fr. David shared that he would be on vacation August 11 – 16.
Financial Reports: There were no questions on the financials which were sent out earlier in the month. Cyndi did report that there had been additional pledges received. We discussed how best to report and handle the accounting of these funds. Cyndi said she would send out an adjusted budget showing the impact for the Vestry to review.
Building and Grounds: Paul reported that a lot has been accomplished over the past month. The mower has been repaired. Our alarm has been upgraded, and we will no longer need “Straight Talk” (which Cyndi confirmed has been cancelled). The Vestry unanimously approved fixing the cracks in the drive and parking lot which should avoid the need for more significant repairs in the near future.
Sr. Warden’s Report: Steve shared the need for the Vestry not to get caught up in the day-to-day business at all of our meetings and to spend more time on the goals for SMM. Paul Patrick emphasized the need to set out specific steps to be taken, identify measurable goals, timelines and persons responsible to accomplish each priority as it is addressed. Some upcoming dates should be noted: Sunday, October 5th– Church Picnic; Sunday, October 26th-Trunk or Treat. Steve also said he and Fr. David would be reaching out to Fr. John at St. Peter’s and All Saints to discuss sharing a youth group to provide activities for both parishes.
Next Vestry Meeting: Aug. 5 at 7PM via Google Meet – Link to follow.
