The meeting was called to order at Noon with an opening prayer lead by Steve Hirtzel.
The meeting minutes of our August 11, 2024 meeting was approved.
Financial Update: Cyndi reviewed the financial reports and explained upcoming expenditures for repairs to be done on the sewage pumps and the additional window replacement.
Building and Grounds: Paul reported the window replacement should be complete on the originally designated windows. The deposit of $1,767 and color will be determined on Wednesday 9/25. The snow removal company sent the updated contract, and it was approved. All of the thermostats are now Wi-Fi. Cyndi did point out the water bill seemed to be excessive, and the usage will be monitored. A friend of Karen will be removing some trees which are not appropriate for the area in which they are planted.
On-Site Events:
The KC Men’s Chorus will be performing to benefit Single Moms KC
Church Picnic – Sunday, October 6th
Weekend Youth Event – Regina will look into the specifics
Clergy Search Committee Update: Cyndi provided an update, explaining the position has been placed on the national data base, and we have received some interest. As the position we have posted is not full time, the issue of health insurance might be an issue.
Continuing Business:
Blessing Bags: We will work with Heart N Hand, but will put this on the back burner.
We will request sock donation for “Socktober”
Belton Parks Team Sponsorship – We will sponsor a team in the spring.
Trunk-or-Treat: Will be held on October 27th following the service. Denise has agreed to organize. Cyndi suggested inviting attendees back for a movie night or some social gathering.
New Business:
Single Moms KC Walk is October 5th, and it was agreed that SMM would donate $300.
Blessing of the Animals: We will be doing the Blessing of the Animals with Lords of Love at 11 AM. It will be at their church.
Poinsettia Sale: Cyndi will put an order form in the bulletins, but wants to be sure they are picked up after the services.
The next Vestry meeting – October’s Vestry meeting will be Sunday, October 13th after church.
