Date: Wednesdays (July 23rd-August 27th)
Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Google Meet

“We call [the Holy Scriptures] the Word of God because God inspired their human authors and because God still speaks to us through the Bible. […] We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true interpretation of the Scriptures.” (The Book of Common Prayer, pg 853-854).

You are invited to join us in our Genesis Bible Study (Part 1). We’ll be covering the first 25 chapters of the first book of the Bible. This will take us from the story of creation through the birth of Jabob also known as Israel.

Each week we’ll be covering 4 chapters (with the exception of week 2). Breaking the readings up this way, we’ll only have to read less than 15 minutes a week, but still have plenty to talk about when we meet up.

The Reading Schedule is as follows:

  • Jul 23: 1-4   Creation and the Fall
  • Jul 30: 5-9  The Flood
  • Aug 6: 10-13 The Tower of Babel and Abram’s Call
  • Aug 13: 14-17 Melchizedek, Abram’s Covenant, and Ishmael
  • Aug 20: 18-21 The Cities of the Plain, and Birth of Isaac
  • Aug 27: 22-25 Binding of Isaac, Isaac’s Marriage, Jacob and Esau

You are encouraged to read the chapters in advance, though we will review key sections when we meet. There is no single perfect translation, so use whichever one is your favorite. If you don’t have a Bible, let us know and we will get you one! If you prefer to read from your phone or computer, BibleGateway has both a website and an app that provide the text and audio versions for many translations.
