Vestry Meeting Minutes

Attendees: Steve Hirtzel, Regina Berens, Paul Patrick, Karen Hauswald, Kim Gerhardt, Susan Petrakos, Rich Koch, and Jane Brucker.
The meeting was called to order at 12:00 with an opening prayer.
November 10th meeting minutes were approved.
Financial Update:
There were no questions on the monthly financial reports. Cyndi presented expenses for 2024 and reminded us we needed to present our budget for 2025 at the church’s annual meeting. When the current budget was reviewed, Cyndi noted that Rebecca had not received an increase in several years. In a first step developing the new budget, the Vestry approved an increase of $50 per month. To date, we have received 18 pledges. It is not uncommon to receive additional pledges the first part of January.
Father David:
Father David Wilcox has accepted our offer and will begin on January 5, 2025. Cyndi will meet with him to ensure all of the paperwork has been completed and will give him the keys. A welcome reception will be held for him after service on January 5th. Also on January 5th is a tailgate being hosted by DOK.
Continuing Business:
Children’s Church – It was agreed that the way we to grow our parish, we need to be welcoming and ready for families with children. Karen Hauswald has some tapes as well as lesson plans available. We will post a request for members willing to join the children’s ministry in the bulletin.
Building and Grounds – Five additional fires extinguishers have been purchased. We have a fire safety inspection in January which will cost $700. KC for Refugees has signed a new “lease” for 2025.
On-Site Events:
In light of the tailgate and reception being held on January 5th, Jane will talk with Marsha and Tasha to see if we can take down the decorations on 12/28/24.
Our Santa event has been determined to be successful. The group was small, but one of the families attended based on information we handed out at our Trunk or Treat event. It was also discussed that additional signage could help.
Christmas Eve service will be at 4:00. The sign will be altered to reflect the correct time.
New Business:
Our congregation’s annual meeting will be on January 26th. We will ask Denise to send out a sign-up genius for a pot-luck lunch.
There will be an opening on the Vestry for Rich’s position which will be posted in The Call and in the bulletin.
We need delegates for the convention as well. Regina will include this in The Call, and she will ask Marsha to include it in the bulletin.
Next Vestry Meeting:
The next Vestry meeting will be after church on January 12, 2025.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15, and closed with a prayer.
